Great Ormond Street Hospital provides the best care in the World (quite literally) to hundreds of poorly children, round the clock, every single day. GOSH is a special, and unique, facility. But GOSH does not run on central Government funds. GOSH needs to raise more than £50 million every year, just to keep the going. That is around £1 million every single week, without fail. If you had to raise £1 million this week ... where would you start? |
GOSH currently have an exciting programme to rebuild some two thirds of the hospital. This will help to make cramped, outdated wards a thing of the past. The children who are treated at Great Ormond Street, and their families, and the staff of this wonderful hospital, deserve nothing less.
The team of medical researchers at GOSH are world leaders, discovering and developing treatments for complex medical conditions. Contributing towards their pioneering research today will make a difference for generations of children in the future.
The presence of parents, and brothers and sisters, has been shown to help children recover from illness. With ongoing support, GOSH aim to provide more beds for parents and family members so that they can be on hand to give hugs at any time of day or night to their sick children.
The facilities for poorly children, and the care provided by GOSH, must be seen to be believed. But be warned ... if you ever have the time to visit them, be prepared to shed tears ... tears of wonder for what this hospital does, and tears of sadness that GOSH have to hope for charitable donations, merely to survive.
